All I can say is I’m so, soooo, sorry I’ve been so MIA. I got the travel bug and kinda haven’t stopped! I’m definitely not complaining! Ok, so this last minute trip to Maui ended up being so relaxing. Just a little FYI: Hawaii fashion really consists of a bikini and well, a bikini.. You really belong in the ocean or sun bathing with a Mai-Tai in hand…
I promised myself I’d have at least one cute night. Plus, I’ve been dying to wear my new Clover Canyon skirt from resort 2014…
I opted for a very chic yet played down look. Hawaii is so casual, so I went with a printed pencil skirt and spaghetti strap silk tank.
It felt like summer, so I wore my favorite laser cut nude pumps and a basic black bag.
I decided not to accessorize to avoid looking overdressed. Simplicity is key when wearing an extreme print. Don’t be one of those girls that just over does it. It’s like that lady who sprayed 5 sprays of perfume too many. YUCK!
If possible grab a statement skirt this spring/ summer. You will wear it with EVERYTHING. Clover Canyon some how gets it right every-time. Dump your drab pencil skirt and invest in something eye catching. Printed skirts are on everyone’s radar this spring. So get it while it’s haute!
-Hawaii packing tip-
*Pack extra swimsuits not extra outfits.
*If you have to, bring 1 pair of high heels.
*You won’t wear half of what you pack, so leave room in your suitcase for some gifts. My top 2 gifts to buy… Maui babe bronzing lotion (it’s the best by far) and some chocolate covered macadamia nuts. A Maui must!
From time to time, I like switching up my style and wearing something I normally wouldn’t. It’s like playing dress up! (Maybe that’s why Halloween is so exciting for the fashion-obsessed.) There’s no one that brings out my inner boho babe better than my super-talented and gorgeous friend, Jacqueline Brown. Not only do I love her personal style, but I’m obsessed with her jewelry line, JNB Style. She came by my boutique this week and we had an impromptu styling sesh and photo shoot featuring a new line I’m carrying, For Love & Lemons. I love the feminine-yet-edgy, care-free collections this LA-based brand creates.
I accessorized this Victorian Maxi Dress from the “Interview with a Vampire” Fall ’13 collection with my new plum velvet oxfords. I stacked my wrists with JNBeads bracelets and threw my hair into a messy fish-tail braid to complete my effortless, boho-chic look. Thanks for the fashion inspo, Jackie!
Where do I start? RVN has created this luxe legging that stands out amongst the rest. They really paid attention to detail when creating these beauties. The pattern, color combo and design scream perfection. They are some seriously haute pants!
Since the pant was so loud, I left my blouse and accessories as muted as possible. A chic silk blouse and black leather ankle booties left my look polished and pretty. Anytime I wear gold, I usually do a bright red lip. Something about red and gold just go hand in hand. I wore my favorite YSL rouge red lipstick, left my hair in loose waves and headed to din at my favorite restaurant in la jolla, 9TEN. My accessories continued in the black and gold family. I wore this hot BCBG faux leather clutch and braided bracelet for a little added touch.
** Style Tip: When wearing prints, be very careful to not overdue the look. Prints are meant to stand out, so shoot for balance when wearing them. Mixing prints can look incredible, you just have to make sure you aren’t taking away from an amazing outfit by overdoing it. When wearing printed leggings, try them before you buy them! Sometimes printed bottoms can accent certain parts of your body you probably don’t want people to notice. Make sure the lines and design are appropriate for your shape. **
Feels like Fall and I couldn’t be happier. (I love fall fashion!) Today I had a million errands to run. I’m heading to South America next week for a month and needed to get my affairs in order! Yikes, being a business owner and trying to go on vacation for a weekend is hard enough let alone leaving for a month! Ayayai!! Being the OCD person that I am, I had back to back meetings and silly annoying things I needed to get done before I left. I grabbed my favorite oversized Free People card and this cute forever21 fedora and headed out. San Diego fall probably feels like summer to most but today had a little bit of a breeze and I thought a fitted tank, my J brand photo ready jeans and this cardigan were the perfect fit for my day.
I love adding a pop of color in an all black outfit. It adds a bit of pizzaz. Instead of warm boots I wore my Zara lace up pumps. They are a comfortable shoe for popping from place to place. I needed a bag where everything from my cell phone to credit cards were easily accessible. The bigger the bag I carry the more of a black hole it becomes! To top off this look I grabbed my hamsa bracelets and headed out.
