Spring time has FINALLY arrived. Ahhhhh and I’m so OBSESSED!!! Shower me in NEON please!!! There’s definitely some Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to rocking this ultra vibrant hue.
DO sport more than one shade of neon, keep it tasteful babes. Choose one shade of neon in an over the top statement jacket and accent with that color. I pulled a neon yellow hue in the print of my Equipment floral bomber jacket and made my shoes and handbag do all the talking.
DO tone down your eye candy outfit with neutral undertones. White and neon is HUGE right now. It’s crisp, clean and cool.
DO Try a light blue denim with your bright hues. It’s an amazing color to compliment neon as opposed to something safe like white.
DO opt for neon leather if you are in search of the perfect “summer” bag. You don’t have to worry about staining a durable perforated neon bag as opposed to any and all white leather bags. You will thank me after you get the first stain on your bright white baby.
DON’T think Neon is a one-season wonder, so buy with an ‘all year round ‘ mentality.
Lastly, for the love of the fashion gawds, PLEASE DON’T wear neon with black. It’s a big time fashion NO, NO!!

I pretty much just died and went to color block heaven. These hot pants rocked it last night at the new Headquarters Media event in Seaport Village. I needed something edgy and opted for this paneled pant as opposed to my basic black legging.. How boring.. Oh and not to mention, they made me feel really skinny.. love when that happens. Anyway, San Diego has definitely cooled down, I got used to that warm Maui sun on my skin. I grabbed a cute cashmere black sweater to tone down the bold pattern. I paired my spike loubis to add some spice and grabbed my go-to cross body to compliment the pop of red. To complete my look I added bold sunnies and red haute lipstick. Sweater weather, eat my heart out! <3
Downtown Dining Tip:
*For the taco crazed… I know you exist. Thats one of the many things San Diego is known for.. Check out Puesto for a guilt free, savory taco at Puesto located in the Headquarters and check out their La Jolla location. Feeling really naughty? Get the crab guacamole. Your welcome.
I heard Madison Gallery in La Jolla was holding a pop art exhibit by Mauro Perucchetti. This genius artist has created a mirror of modern day materialistic desires. The flawless swarovski crystal, botoxed beauty caught my eye and my interest. Our society is so driven by perfectionism and materialism I thought this would be the perfect afternoon escape from the store. I mean, who doesn’t want to see pretty sparkly things? This artist has really tapped into pop culture and the demands society has on us. I know I am obsessed with shoes and probably have wayyy too many.. if thats even possible. But I did stop to think, is this obsession driven by our social demands to always look fab and fresh? Or is this just a characteristic trait I learned from my fashionista, shoe obsessed mom? Im going with its just genetic. ;) So anyways, this exhibit not only sparkled from wall to wall but obviously told a story. A really svelte story! I couldn’t help but admire the colors, the vibrant details and sharp hues.
Coincidentally enough, my look fit right in. I love this ombre teal equipment blouse. The color way was done to perfection and the snake print is such a classic look for this over the top tee. My current denim obsession are these photo ready J brand distressed jeans. I love the ripped knees and faded whiskering. What’s photo ready? Just what it says… the skinniest of skinny that really make you look skinnier!! TA-DAHHH! Love em! Obviously got a little carried away with the teal, but I had the perfect shoe and went for matchy matchy. These cute Zara pumps are practical and pretty. I walked around all day without any discomfort. GO ME!! My last accessory was this adorable box clutch by BCBG Max Azria. Daytime chic transitioned perfectly to happy hour haute with my babe.
If you are in La Jolla, check out the exhibit. Im not sure how much longer it’s going to be around for, but definitely worth taking a peek. For now, I hope you enjoy some of my favorite pieces.
From time to time I fall into a fashion slump. I get a little lazy and laid-back with my style because San Diego is such a casual, go with the flow kinda city. After a week or two of alternating my v’neck tees w/ skinny jeans and my staple “bang around” lulu lemon gear, I park myself at the bookstore for inspiration on fashion trends. The back story of so many designers is filled with triumph, failure, success and a whole lot of trial and error. It’s the story along the way that makes the brand what it is today. Coco Chanel for instance started designing hats and to think it’s now an icon of a brand, a classic for over 100 years. Well, like Chanel, our style continues to evolve and change but what’s most important about fashion is finding out what we feel most confident and comfortable in & really tapping into what works for us.
So here I am at Warwicks bookstore in La Jolla checking out some Paris Style. Jeans are great but how can we dress em up so we don’t look so drab. I paired my faded grey J brand Jeans with an Equipment snake print cashmere sweater. Heels weren’t appropriate so I grabbed my favorite cheepy oxfords from BP at Nordstroms, they’re easy and comfy. Since I knew I’d be busy flipping through pages, I went for my Forever21 cross body faux leather satchel. I left motivated and excited. In fact, this trip to Warwicks was the inspiration behind my San Diego Fashion Week look. Stay tuned to check out what I wore and how art and architecture inspired my outfit choice.
